I would like to be famous someday. As long as it’s not for something stupid. I would like to be famous so I could hopefully use it to my advantage. When you are famous you get a lot of good perks so to speak. The main reason I would want to be famous in a positive way is to get a lot of money. Money is what brings longevity to one that is smart in the choices he makes. Not to forget but I would held out a lot of people who are less fortunate than I am.
There are many sports and activities that I enjoy doing. One of these activities is playing sports as well as watching them. Another activity that I enjoy a lot is cooking. When I am cooking I get time to reflect on the world and the things that is going on. Also I get to relax. For some reason to me cooking calms me down. It could seem like I have the biggest problem, but once I start cooking then everything is fine. Many times at my house we have parties and I cook for family and friends. All enjoy it and they say that it is very good. Some people say that I should have gone to culinary school because it tastes so good. Mainly I cook though is because I like to see people having a good time and enjoying themselves.
When it comes to body art I have a few tattoos and piercings. The number of piercings that I have is two. I have one in my right ear, and also I have one in my left. Then I have a couple of tattoos on my body. I have one of a genie coming out of a bottle with a gun in his hand smoking a joint. Another one that I have is my initials on my stomach. Other than that I don’t have any other markings although not to say I don’t want any more its that I want them done right. I want my childrens names on my back. Also I would like to get my sleeves done I just want to get some meaningful things. When it comes tattoos I see it as art. Art is such a beautiful thing espically when its done well.
My cultural background is very odd due to the fact I have a few different racial bloodlines in my veins. From what I know and seen I have a lot of African in me from my ancestors. Later during slavery time we were brought to America where we were known as African Americans. Another part of my heritage comes form Native American or Indians as they say. One of my great-grandmothers was ¾ chiakata Indian. Her husband my great-grandfather was ½ Blackfoot Indian. On the other side of my family which is my mothers also have some different cultural backgrounds in them also. Her grandpa which was my great-grandfather was a man from the islands. Although I never met him just seen photographs was mixed with two different races. One side of his family was from Haiti. To be exact it may have been Port a Prince’ I believe which is the capitol. The other part comes from the Virgin Islands. Although I’ve never been there I’ve been told that it is a very beautiful place. So this my ethnic background on both sides. Although it may seem like a lot I think or consider myself black. Yes black, a black man.

The title of this essay is The Ephemera: An Emblem of Human Life. The author is Benjamin Franklin.2. The approach the writer used in the introductory paragraph would be a surprising statement. "We had been shown numberless skeletons of a kind of little fly, called an ephemera, whose successive generations, we were told, were bred and expired within the day. I happened to see a living company of them on a leaf, who appeared to be engaged in conversation."3. The thesis statement would be "We had been shown numberless skeletons of a kind of little fly, called an ephemera, whose successive generations, we were told, were bred and expired within the day."4. I personally dont think the introduction was very effective, because I really didnt get the message that they were trying to imply with the paragraph. I had to read it a several times to get it. The author tho did used a lot of details to help picture what had happened in the story. After reading it a several times I finally understood it. Another thing that the author used in the essay that helps the reader to get the message is he used personal experience. Which we all can relate to.5. The method the author used for the concluding paragraph is quotation.6. The conclusion was pretty good to me. It was a lot more effective then the introduction. He started to give more facts on what he was talking about. For example "I have seen generations born, flourish, and expire." He pretty much talks about the mosquito's life known as ephemera. How they can only survive only up to 18 hours. They are bred and expired within the same day. The live in this world known as Moulin Joly.
The title of this essay is gifts written by Ralph Waldo Emerson.2.The author gave an opposing position in his introductory paragraph. For example, IT is said that the world is in a state of bankruptcy, that the world owes the world more than the world can pay, and ought to go into chancery, and be sold. I do not think this general insolvency, which involves in some sort all the population, to be the reason of the difficulty experienced at Christman and New Year, and other times, in bestowing gifts; since it is always so pleasant to be generous, though very vexatious to pay debts.3.The thesis statement in this essay was for common gifts, necessity makes pertinences and beauty every day, and one is glad when an imperative leaves him no option, since if the man at the door have no shoes, you have not to consider whether you could procure him a paint-box.4.The introductory paragraph was one of the worst I have ever read. For the simple reason, he opened with a good introductory sentence but then went away from it. In my opinion he had a great topic sentence that grasped the reader and he let them go by dirifting away from it. The introductory sentence could have also worked against him. It really had nothing to do with gifts, which is the title of his essay. Also in opening his essay with an opinion, he really didn't set forth a definitive statement. The paragraph was a bunch of words thrown together.5.The author used a call to action to conclude the essay.6.This essay in my mind was horrible from the beginning to the end, especially the conclusion. The writer uses to many parables and quotes that did not make any sense to me. If you were to read the introductory paragraph, the outlining paragraph's, and the conclusion, you wouldn't know you were reading the same essay. The author tried to get to cute and fancy instead of just sticking to the topic.

SLO Exam
The topic I chose to do my slo exam on was the helathcare industry. I figured it would be a good topic to do since my career will have a lot to do with the healthcare industry. In my speech i'm going to outline the problems that I think the healthcare industry is having right now and possible ways to get it fixed. All in all, I hope to enlighten anyone who reads it.

10 most annoying phrases
The article on the 10 most annoying phrases was an interesting read. I don't think the article depicts politicians in a good light. Even though some of the things that are said in the article are true, like the big unneccessary words that are used, and the lies. There are some out their like our current president elect who keep it nice and simple, not really trying to confuse people. Most of the time their dialog contains a lot of hidden meaning behind it.

sentence test
The test we had to take in the complete sentences was pretty easy. I got all the question right because it was stuff you learn in elementary school. I did learn the terms behind a run-on sentence, a comma splice, and a fragmented sentence.

Obama
Obama finished off the most historic night in United States history by giving a historic speech in Chicago's Grant Park. His speech in my mind embodied his whole campaign, that America was ready for a change. He has always had a way of delivering a speech that can make you believe. I think he made a lot of people in the United States and around the world stand up and take notice. He showed in his speech last night that he was a very humble individual by congratulating Sen. Macain. He also showed in his speech that he was ready to put aside the bipartisanship that's plagued Washington for so many years and work with the republicans on building America back to respectable place in the global community and at home.

16 eassys from well known writers
1a . Title of 1st eassy is An Idyl of the Honey-bee
1b. The author is John Burroughs
2a. The approach the author used in the intro was Definition
2b. Indeed, a colony of bees, with their neatness and love of order, their division of labor, their public-spiritedness, their thrift, their complex economies, and their inordinate love of gain, seems as far removed from a condition of rude nature as does a walled city or a cathedral town.
3. There is no creature with which man has surrounded himself that seems so much like a product of civilization, so much like the result of development on special lines and in special fields, as the honey-bee.
4. I feel that the introduction paragraph was very descriptive. It went into detail about some of the job that a honey-bee has. Some of their jobs consists of complex economies, and their inordinate love of gain, Another thing is that it gives nice detailes on comparisons such as the white mans foresight, craftiness, miserly habits. This to me shows that the author or someone that he knows has had may honey-bee encounters, therefore this introduction paragraph sounds good and it seems like he will ba able to keep me interested throught the essay.
5. The technique the author used was Prediction
6. In the conclusion the writter did a good job to sume up his thoughts. The statement wild honey is as near like tame as wild bees are like their brothers in the hive is very deep. To me I thought of it as we all have some of the same characteristics. Whether man or animal we are all made from GOD. Therefore we do many things alike just in a diffirent format due to the fact our needs and wants are in diffirent sequence. That what makes the world and each species diffirent and special.

RESPONSE TO THE OBAMA SPEACH
Obama would be a great president for this time and era. History is made . Education, determination, belife, along with the will to strive for success is being demonstrated. Not long ago blacks could not vote, now we have a black president for the first time in history. This demonstrates that one spark could start a fire. The diversity he shows is somthing long needed in this country and that day has came. Qualities that bring people together black, white, hispanic, asian, rich, poor, straight, gay have all came together to make a change.

JOURNAL AND PORTFOLIO WRITING Have you ever sat and wondered what the world would be like with no laws. Better yet what if there were not any police, no justice systems, or no courts. Things like this interest me due to many reasons. Life with no laws in certain parts of the world interest me. Justice in some causes are needed, but I feel that where there are laws sometimes they take advantage of it. Laws are power and with power comes control as seen by Saddam Hussin. In other cases they are used to protect us from those who chose to live life on their own accord.

my style of conflict is collaboration because i feel somewhat difficult. it doesnt bother me that i give a little to make someone feel better of make the situation ok, but as long as i get somthing out of it.aint nonthing for free in america so i have to walk away with somthing or else i feel cheated. a style i can work on is avoidance because sometimes you never know the other persons situation and like i say in todays world there are to many dumb ass people so you cant always know what mood or mode that particular time.

today i used the halo effect. someone called and said somthing negative about my best friend. due to our close relationship i failed to belive the hear say. you know the sayin right or wrong you right, well thats how i felt. due to the fact everyone says somthing negative about everyone so its been said about me. true or not things happen and in all i dont see no bad or failure in my friend so i fail to belive it. this is a prime example of the halo effect because i blocked out all negativity to focus on the good and the positive attributes and qualities

self confidence is a major key to success. weather you know it or not people are allways watching you. the way you carry yourself, talk, dress, even the music you listen to tells alot. sometimes you have to brighten your horizons to be successful. everything you do and how you do it determins your future(carma). learn to be presaentable at all times sometimes you never get to make a first impression, and that impression may dertermin success or failure.
today i took atest to learn about self-esteem. i always have felt confident on the theory of i am as good as you. sometimes it might take me awhile longer and sometimes you awhile longer. the main thing is you can do anything you put your mind to as long as you give it your all. as long as you are satisfied with your results that is all that matters. self respect and happiness is what matters in this world. if you dont have self esteem or confidence then you are setting yourself up for failure by doubting yourslef, and this puts you a step behind i feel. so go into every and all challenges feeling that you are worthy.
test score 86 said i had high self esteem and that i recognize my inner value and it shows in personal life

today i learned about communication. there are certain ways to approach people. a man came to my car before i cauld open the door needing change, i said no. another man asked for change when i left i gave him a dollar and change because he had enough respect to wait till i took care of my business. my point being is that you should show enough respect to someone if you're going to ask for things. my goals are to become a better speaker, also to learn to communicate with others and finally become more professional in a work environment.
